Cessation of Demand Draft service

Following a review of our Demand Draft service, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore (“HSBC Singapore”) has decided to cease the offering of the said service effective from 1 October 2021.

Please note that the last day for you to submit any instruction for demand draft issuance is 30 September 2021 and all applications must be received prior to our usual processing cut-off time of 15:00 hours. Any application received on 30 September 2021 after 15:00 hours is deemed received the next day and will be rejected.

All demand drafts issued by us will continue to be honoured for a period of up to 6 months after the date of its issuance.

Please consider alternative forms of electronic payments such as cross border payment via Telegraphic Transfer service in place of demand drafts.

Our Relationship Managers or Client Service representatives will be happy to discuss with you about our alternative solutions to meet your needs.

With effect from 1 July 2021, the redemption notice periods for Business Property Financing Facilities and committed term loans which are secured by all types of Singapore properties will be shortened from the current three (3) months to two (2) months.

For redemption notices received before 1 July 2021, the redemption notice period(s) as stated in your existing facility documentation shall continue to apply.

Notwithstanding the above, if the existing redemption notice period(s) specified in the existing facility documentation you have entered into is less than two (2) months, the abovementioned revisions will not impact you.

In relation to the changes in our 2021 Commercial Bank Tariffs, we will like to inform you that we will only be implementing the "Handling fee for non-electronic applications / instructions" for selected trade transactions from 1 March 2021 onwards. The fee would apply on submissions through non-electronic channels, including paper and fax, on the following trade transactions:

  1. Import documentary credits (DC): Applications for new issuances and amendments
  2. Import DC/collection bills: Settlement instructions
  3. Import loans (Trust Receipt loans and Buyer Loans): New loan applications, requests for extension and settlement instructions
  4. Export DCs: Applications for transfer of DC
  5. Banker's Guarantees and Standby DCs: Applications for new issuances and amendments

Updated Global Trade and Receivables Finance(GTRF) Standard Trade Terms

We are updating our Standard Trade Terms with effect from 1 December 2020.

We have made updates to better reflect how we offer our Trade Services, particularly Finance and Trade Finance Loans, and to include a new provision clarifying how we will treat published benchmark interest rates if they become negative.

Changes to terms and conditions governing the accounts of HSBC Commercial Banking Customers

Effective 20 September 2020, we will be amending the General Terms and Conditions Governing Accounts governing the accounts of HSBC Commercial Banking Customers and replacing them with a revised suite of documentation comprising a Master Services Agreement, the Singapore Country Conditions, and a set of Account Disclosures (the “New Terms”). The Master Services Agreement focuses on the essential legal terms governing our relationship with you, the Country Conditions set out Singapore-specific terms necessary from a local regulatory and/or operational perspective, and the Account Disclosures complement the Master Services Agreement and Singapore Country Conditions by setting out information relating to cheques, tariffs, statements and dormant accounts.

We would like to remind our customers that HSBC in Singapore maintains strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorised access to our customers’ information.  In addition, HSBC and its subsidiaries will never solicit information from our customers or members of public via e-mails that would require them to provide their account information or personal details. As a good practice, customers should only connect to www.hsbc.com.sg when accessing our Internet Banking platform. Customers should never follow a link within an e-mail to start an Internet Banking session.

Relocation of HSBC Singapore’s Head Office

Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited New BIC Onboarding for Local Clearing

Subject to legal and regulatory approvals, Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore Branch is transferring their Commercial Banking, Corporate & Institutional Banking and Private Banking businesses to Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“SCBSL”) on 13 May 2019.

With this business consolidation, SCBSL will process local clearing transactions with its own BIC (SCBLSG22). This will impact any interbank transactions that you initiate to SCBSL accounts.

Citibank Singapore Limited will have a new SWIFT Bank Identifier Code ("BIC") and Bank Code for SGD payments instructions with effect from 15 April 2019. Revision of the Deposit Insurance coverage limit.

With effect from 1 April 2019, Singapore dollar deposits of non-bank depositors will be insured by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation, for up to S$75,000 from the current S$50,000 in aggregate per depositor per Scheme member by law.

Renovation of HSBC Claymore Branch and Closure of HSBC Liat Towers Branch

In line with our continuous efforts to provide a better branch experience for our customers, we are currently renovating our HSBC Claymore Branch and the branch will re-open on Monday, 4 March 2019.

In addition, we will like to inform you that our nearby HSBC Liat Towers Branch will be closed permanently from Saturday, 2 March 2019, 12pm. All banking facilities located at this branch, including ATMs, Cash Deposit machine and Quick cheque deposit facility, will be removed and no longer be available.

Maybank new Subsidiary and Branch details for transactions

With effect from 1 March 2018, we will no longer issue SGD1,000 notes for any cash transaction which is less than SGD10,000. For any cash transaction of SGD10,000 or more, the following application form will need to be completed and presented at our branches if SGD1,000 notes are required.

From 1 November 2017, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Singapore Branch will cease collection of cashier's order, demand draft and cheque book at HSBC branches. These payment instruments will be mailed to applicant/beneficiary mailing address.

Cessation of Credit Advices for inbound transactions and paper copy inserts of the Business Reply Envelopes (BRE)

With effect from 1 August 2017, we will no longer be providing paper copy credit advices for telegraphic transfers, Fast and Giro inward remittances. You may refer to your monthly bank account statements or log-in to HSBCnet to view your transaction history or set-up customer alerts to be sent to you by email or sms based on the limits you set.

For help on setting up customer alerts, simply log-in to HSBCnet and click on Help Centre > User and Account Management > User Guides – All Users > Customer Alert

Get more information on HSBCnet. Alternatively, kindly contact your Relationship Manager or Client Service Manager for assistance.

Furthermore, we will no longer provide paper copy inserts of the BRE.
