HSBC SG donates $750,000 to help local community through COVID-19

HSBC Singapore is donating a total of SGD$750,000 to three charities that will help to financially assist low-income families, migrant workers, people with disabilities and the elderly during this period of social and economic distress.

The charities that will receive a portion of the total donation are Willing Hearts, The Food Bank Singapore and Community Chest, the fundraising and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Community Chest will disburse their allocated funds to Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre and Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (H.O.M.E.).

Tony Cripps, CEO for HSBC Singapore, said: “As one of the oldest banks in Singapore, we’ve been steadfast in helping Singaporeans face challenges over the years, and we wanted to see where our support would be most needed in this current crisis. COVID-19 is revealing the tightrope that many of our more vulnerable members of society face, which is why we have focused on these areas.”

HSBC has one of the longest corporate volunteer programmes in Singapore. Together with our partners, our volunteers have collectively contributed more than 200,000 community service hours for the benefit of more than 10,000 to 20,000 needy people over the past 20 years.
